Fees, Financials & Insurance:
What is your fee per session?
My fee per 45 minute individual therapy session is $250.
Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance. However, I am happy to help you with Out of Network benefits.
Do you take Top Tier?
I do not take Top Tier or any other insurance. I am incorrectly listed in some insurances due to my relationship with Mt. Sinai-St. Luke's Hospital and the Icahn School of Medicine.
How does Out of Network work?
You would pay me directly for our appointments, and I then provide you with a "super bill" at the end of each month (or every three months), which you can submit to your insurance. After your payments cover your deductible, your insurance will then begin reimbursing you for a portion of the costs.
Is there any assistance for filing Out of Network claims?
Some people are able to submit claims to their insurance swiftly and without a problem. A lot of people, however, find that navigating their insurance can take a lot of time and be really obtuse.
Better processes any bills applied to your deductible for free, while anything you are reimbursed for they will charge 10%. Some of my patients find the time and energy they don't spend on the phone with their insurance worth it! In addition, the folks at Better are super nice to talk to, and go the extra mile in explaining exactly how your out of network benefits work, what your deductible and co-insurance are, etc.
How do I do the math on all this?
I believe clients should have as much information as possible in making an informed decision about their care. If you'd like to have a clearer sense of the financials, I recommend calling your insurance and finding out what your 1) Out-of-Network deductible, 2) Coverage, and 3) Allowed Amount for psychotherapy are.
You can then use this handy-dandy, custom made calculator to estimate your Out of Network costs, and get an image of what that can look like month to month, and over the course of a year. Just plug in the numbers and let the calculator do the work!
